Introduction of SRC structures
They are armed with a steel core, and their use is increasing significantly. The steel core can be prepared as rolled sections or built-up. The beams in the SRC structure can be strengthened with the help of steel sections if needed.
SCR structures have unique features that will be especially suitable in the construction of high-rise structures. The use of this system will lead to an increase in the efficiency of the structural element, high resistance to fire, the possibility of implementing long openings and reducing the dimensions of the columns (especially in the parking floors).

Performance of SRC structures
Since in these types of columns the steel part is enclosed by concrete, there is no need to control the local buckling because the concrete material acts as a continuous support along the length of the steel member in pressure. In this way, these types of columns can always be considered as compressed sections. If the steel sections in these columns consist of several profiles, to prevent buckling of each section alone before the concrete hardens, these parts should be connected to each other by fasteners, corners, straps, studs, or other suitable sections.
Special advantages of SRC structures
- Removing middle columns and providing more parking: The high resistance of SRC columns makes it possible to remove middle columns or increase the distance between columns. As a result, the useful space inside the building will increase and at the same time it will be possible to install more parking lots.
- Column dimensions: The high resistance of SRC columns compared to concrete columns makes it possible to reduce the dimension of the column by 25%, which is very desirable from an architectural point of view.

Other benefits of the SRC structure
- Increasing the speed and ease of implementation due to the reduction in the volume of reinforcement.
- The possibility of patchless reinforcement in columns 12 meters long, without the need for column bracing.
- Compatible with top-down structure implementation.
- Reducing the density of reinforcement at the beam-to-column junction.
